We are excited to be leading a new NSERC CREATE funded training program focused on our role in helping to achieve the targets for Canada’s Net Zero Emissions Accountability Act.

This Net Zero for Materials and Manufacturing training program involves researchers from across the UBC-V and UBC-O and SFU campuses who are working in science, engineering, business and policy to affect change in how we make and use materials. The training program has three pillars:

  • Research: end of life issues, policy, green chemistry, alloy design for recycling, compostable material, cross-disciplinary studies
  • Assessment: systems level thinking, life cycle assessment
  • Deployment: Skills and tools to rapidly transition technology from lab to application
